Iowa’s First Legislative Funnel Week Is Almost Here — Feb. 20 Deadline!
It is Funnel Week and we need action now.
There are still several important bills that have not yet passed through committee to remain viable this session. If they do not move now, they will likely not move at all.
We need your voice. Please send your emails and submit public comments for the six bills listed below to make it clear to legislators that these issues matter to Iowans.
Just five emails per person can make the difference for all six bills. A small effort from each of us creates a major impact. When legislators receive consistent and respectful messages from constituents, it gets their attention and helps move legislation forward.
The MAHA and medical freedom movement have never been stronger. Grassroots engagement played a significant role in the 2024 election, and now it is time to implement the solutions that propelled MAHA into the President’s administration.
Your support goes a long way, and it is the only way we will be successful.
📜SF2211 Iowa Medical Freedom Act (aka No Mandates Bill-Senate companion)
SF2211 has not been assigned a subcommittee date yet. Please encourage Senator Kara Warme to schedule a hearing for this important piece of legislation. Provide your stories to her from the pandemic regarding how you were impacted by mandates, discriminated against for your medical choices, or treated by your school system for the vaccine schedule. If you have a vaccine injury please tell her your story and why this bill means so much to you.

📜HF2368 Iowa Medical Freedom Act (AKA No Mandates Bill- House companion)
Provide your stories to the committee from the pandemic regarding how you were impacted by mandates, discriminated against for your medical choices, or treated by your school system for the vaccine schedule. If you have a vaccine injury please tell your story and why this bill means so much to you.
Other talking points:
Vaccination requirements are coercive and do not abide by the legal requirements for informed consent.
No one has a right to alter or inject someone else’s body with a substance that could be injurious to them.
Rights of conscience and/or religious beliefs are violated when medical products are mandated, as well as breach personal privacy and the right to one's own property.
An employer, school, or government agency is not someone’s doctor nor do they know what is best for every individual’s health.
European nations do not require vaccines for school entry or other public services yet they have high uptake rates over 90% due to education and trust in their healthcare professionals.
Mandates defy the legal and ethical requirements for informed consent where the individual has the voluntary choice to choose and is given the risks, benefits, and alternatives. An employer, school, or government cannot provide informed consent.
One size fits all medicine does not address individual health needs, violating the hippocratic oath of “at first do no harm”. These products can do harm and are immune from any liability leaving only the individual or the state insurance programs responsible.
Most vaccines on the market today do not stop transmission. Any antibody mediated protection is often personal and temporary due to waning immunity.
Vaccination uptake will not go down simply because a mandate is removed. Many nations around the world who do not force vaccine mandates are evidence of this.
Reinforces the importance of the doctor patient relationship and receiving informed consent from a healthcare provider when deciding on a medical intervention.
This bill has been passed in Idaho and a similar bill passed and was upheld by the courts in Montana, while ten other states seek to pass it this year.
Discrimination in the workplace or at school, vaccine injury and disability all happened during the COVID pandemic if not before.

📜Healthcare clinical student exemption (SF2095)
SF2095 protects students and professionals in clinical training settings. It ensures they can request a healthcare exemption and continue their education without being forced to choose between their beliefs and their future career.
Talking points:
Many people choose not to go into healthcare professions because of the requirements to take any number of vaccines.
This bill is a good first step to allow those working in healthcare to decide what is best for their own bodies or their own religious beliefs, rather than being subjected to a blanket mandate and products that are immune from liability.
This will help increase the workforce for healthcare professions.
All vaccines carry with them risks that any individual should be able to reject for any reason.
The efficacy of the covid 19 and flu shot have shown to be minimal personal protection at best with neither one demonstrating an ability to disrupt transmission according a systemic review of the literature by the Cochrane Library.

📜SSB3084- Reforming the Certificate of Need
Email the Senate HHS Committee and encourage them to support the bill reforming certificate of need.
These laws protect established businesses only and limit them from competition that would naturally drive down the cost of healthcare and allow for more options for patients to be seen.
These laws have nothing to do with patient safety or healthcare quality and are simply an impediment to attracting more businesses and providers to the Iowa Healthcare marketplace.
WE need more competition in the healthcare marketplace!
Encourage them to make more changes in the future or completely repeal this outdated law as it has not lowered healthcare costs, and instead has decreased options and increased costs.

📜Reforming Governor's Emergency Powers and Public Health Disaster Bill (HSB726)
This bill needs to pass through the House Judiciary Committee this week. The part that impacts health the most is the public health disaster chapter that removes the word "order" and inserts the word "recommend". No executive or public health department of this state should have the ability to "Order" you to test, treat, or vaccinate. That is a decision that should be left up to each individual Iowan. If the situation is grave enough to warrant testing or if there is a treatment/vaccine that has been shown to be effective, then each Iowan will decide to take it voluntarily. Tell your story if you were coerced or mandated during the pandemic and why you do not wish to see a Governor or state department of health have that capability. Reminder, this chapter was NOT used during the COVID pandemic and for that we are grateful to Governor Reynolds. Medical issues, our rights to our own bodily property and religious beliefs are not null and void during an epidemic.
📜Liability for Vaccine Injury Bill (HF2287)
This bill would require a pharmaceutical manufacturer of a vaccine to waive their immunity shield in order to sell or dispense vaccines in the state, requiring them to take responsibility for any lawsuits that arise due to vaccine injuries caused by design defects.
If you have a vaccine injury story, please tell your story! Tell about the costs involved after that injury and who is responsible for those costs. If you went through the VICP program, tell about that experience and why these products need a true day in court.
If you would like to attend the subcommittee for this bill it is Tuesday at 12:30, Room 103
