CALL TO ACTION: HF2203 is headed to subcommittee in the Senate tomorrow 3/9/22!
HF2203 (Formerly HF2010/SF2117)-Gives patients the right to try offlabel drugs if mechanically ventilated or diagnosed terminally ill. It also added additional protections to the COVID liability language that prevents a doctor from being disciplined by the board of medicine for prescribing offlabel for COVID-19.
Talking points:
-It is a good first step to extend the right to try provisions for offlabel use of FDA authorized drugs to patients who are terminally ill or mechanically ventilated, due to issues during the pandemic that have prevented families from getting the treatment they desired for their loved one.
-Preventing the disciplinary inquisitions by the medical board so doctors can do their jobs and prescribe what they believe to be the best course of treatment for their patients is in everyone’s best interest.
