What does Iowa mortality data tell us after 2 years?

The preliminary mortality data for all cause deaths in Iowa has been released for all of 2021. Looking at the data and comparing it to 2021 and the previous 20 years before the pandemic we should ask ourselves, was all of the hardship Iowans have experienced the last 2 years necessary?

20 year mortality data obtained from IDPH bureau of vital statistics.

The annual percentage of our population who died did rise in 2020 and 2021 (1.12%/1.06%) in comparison to the previous 20 years (0.93% avg) but was it that great of a rise to require all of the following:

  • mask mandates

  • vaccine cards

  • vaccination requirements at work or threat of losing a career or job

  • working from home (for some companies for almost 18 months)

  • shutting down or limiting businesses’ ability to operate

  • putting limitations on our freedom of religion and how we worship

  • limiting social gatherings to an arbitrary number (canceling major life celebrations like graduations, weddings, funerals, etc.)

  • denying access to loved ones and preventing family from seeing each other in care facilities

  • setting back the development of our children

  • requiring excessive or scientifically unfounded health measures like distancing 6 feet, plexiglass barriers, hand sanitizer, etc.

Some people may be asking themselves, how could our public health agencies and the great scientific experts have gotten the predictions so wrong? While hindsight is always 20/20, some groups were trying to sound the alarm to stop the “cure” from becoming worse than the disease itself.

Looking at Iowa’s monthly total deaths, it is clear that despite massive amounts of tax payer dollars going to the design, production, and distribution of vaccines, government and company incentives, Federal and private company mandates, and authorizing experimental products for nearly all Americans over the age of 5, Iowa’s mortality data is still higher than average mortality amounts pre-pandemic for both before and after the vaccine roll out. At present time, we have 60.8% of our population considered fully vaccinated in Iowa. 67% have had at least one dose of the vaccine, yet we still see statistically significant increases in mortality in the second half of 2021 compared to pre-pandemic average rates despite the vaccine roll out. One would have assumed that with the vaccines being introduced in December of 2020 and through the first half of 2021 there would have been significant decreases in mortality and a return to near pre-pandemic levels. But that is not what the data shows. We constantly hear vaccines are the best tool we have to fight this pandemic and the only way out, but Iowa’s own data is not a very good depiction of that claim.

Life Insurance companies are also beginning to weigh in on the fact they were surprised with the increase in COVID death claims in 2021. “The global life insurance industry was hit with reported claims due to COVID-19 of $5.5 billion in the first nine months of 2021 versus $3.5 billion for the whole of 2020, according to insurance broker Howden in a report on Jan 4, while the industry had expected lower payouts due to the rollout of vaccines.”

Bottom line is, Benjamin Franklin was right. “Any society that would give up essential liberty to gain a little security, will deserve neither and lose both.

It is time to stop believing the “experts”, to start thinking critically on our own, and to restore the rights taken away from Iowans due to overreaching public health guidelines! We the people decide. It is time to pass the Medical Privacy and Freedom Act!
